In Kind Contributions
In kind donations are made up of donations, services, facilities, and volunteer hours.
The donations may be food or items to help with a fundraiser dinner. Most of the desserts for our fundraiser dinners are donated by the parents of SWOP alumni. Some of the fundraisers also include silent auctions and all of the items on the auctions are donated by individuals and businesses. The local papers may give free advertising for the fundraiser dinners and a thank you ad at the end of the year.
Host organizations donate the use of their building and the office copier for the summer program. It may also be possible to have a facility donate space for the SWOP Awards & Appreciation Banquet.
Volunteer hours are a major part of our in kind contributions. It takes the Community Councils many hours to plan, organize, and put on a fundraising event. There are also the numerous hours donated by the board. When applying for grants, it is sometimes helpful to report the number of these in-kind goods and services.
In kind contributions for the work of SWOP, both time and material, add up to many thousands of dollars of investment. As a grass roots organization, SWOP could not function without them.
